Simply Limeade

The unique packaging of Simply Limeade immediately made me think that this was a healthy alternative to the other drinks that sat on the sliding door cooler of a non-descript food court in Las Cruces, New Mexico. it boldly declared that the 400 milliliters inside are "not from concentrate" and that it is all natural- and yes, the ingredient list supports that by stating that not only that the water used is filtered AND purified, but that the sugar (all 47 grams of it) is natural and any other flavors, besides the lime juice (which suspiciously is not declared as natural), are in fact natural. In this bottle there are only 190 calories, but an astonishing 51 grams of carbohydrates- no doubt a result of the prodigious amount of "natural sugar" inside of it. At first seeing that only 12% lime juice was in it worried me, but then I realized that if I drank 400 ml of pure lime juice I would probably have one or more ulcers.
When I pulled away the "lift'n'peel" cap and drank from the bottle I was immediately greeted with a poignant citrus taste that was accented with sweet sugar and lacked the bitter aftertaste that some homemade limeades have. It is delicious, refreshing enough to remind of an "all-natural" limeade popsicle- one that I would drink everyday if it wasn't for the 47 grams of sugar and 51 carbs- deleterious attributes that force me to give it a 3.5 out of 5 rating.
